Research Tithing

The Chiro.Org Blog

The Board of Chiro.Org held their annual Board meeting on 2-22-2011 and unanimously approved another $2500 donation to Chiropractic Research. This will be the tenth year in a row that the website has made a research tithe, and to date that contribution totals $21,000.

In the Age of Accountability, insurers may only pay for care that is supported by research. Our intention is to do our part, and to encourage our readers (chiropractors all) to do their part, by putting their money where it will do the most good… into high quality research, which accurately describes the miracles that we see daily in our practices.

This year’s gifts includes a $1250. contribution to the Integrated Chiropractic Outcomes Network, a new Practice-based research project created by Cheryl Hawk, DC, PhD, the Director of Clinical Research at Logan College of Chiropractic.

This year also marks our 8th year in a row supporting the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association’s research projects, always aimed at demonstrating the benefits of chiropractic care for children.

  • Thank you for supporting research in our profession! As an evidence-based profession, we need to continue our efforts to lead the way in researching our primary tool for the last 100 years, spinal adjustments!

There is no doubt the value of seeing is believing, I just hope that someday our culture truly comes to value chiropractic as a major health system. We all, as chiropractors, have seen it enough, as a result of our care and methods of adjusting,we see unbelievable responses from our care. Results that even as we know are are just spectacular. I sometimes think, how long can chiropractic play the quiet game. If it was not that health care was just a for profit environment we would probably see our type of philosophy really taking hold of our culture. chiropractic is a big thing because we believe in something that most others cannot even imagine. It is a battlefield between us and them. Stay with the faith, it is even more important than just evidence and science, it is about we as chiropractors taking care of people. That alone will make us more powerful in our culture than medical supplements can compete with.Medicine has its overplayed field, and we have ours, now is not the time to cave.

  • There are many notable and worthwhile projects in chiropractic research to donate to. The Upper Cervical Research Foundation (www.ucrf.org) has a number of noteworthy projects, including finite element modeling of the cervical spine in conjunction with Vijay Goel, PhD and the University of Toledo. You might consider tithing towards this particular project, as its findings may have ramifications on our entire profession.
