Section 3

INTRODUCTION

The work product of the consensus groups is not a series of results in the conventional sense, nor is it appropriate to present it as such. Rather, the consensus process was essential background work to proposing the Quebec Classification of Whiplash-Associated Disorders (WAD), which appears at the end of the section. The Task Force, with the help of special consultants, systematically considered anatomical, physiological and pathological factors in WAD and information on the mechanism and prevention of injury from various text books, technical reports and other relevant literature. In this Scientific Monograph, we present a summary of the consensus groups' findings and the Quebec Classification of Whiplash-Associated Disorders; the reader should refer to the Official Report of the Quebec Task Force for more details.
